Dubbed a "cranky Christian" by the New Yorker magazine, best selling author and novelist, Anne Lamott will be the featured speaker at Night Ministry's festive service of thanksgiving for 50 years, to take place at Grace Cathedral on Sunday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m.
Anne Lamott has written seven novels and several best selling books of nonfiction, the best known of which are Operating Instructions, about her life as a single mother, and Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life.
Lamott worships at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marin with Night Ministry Crisis Une Counselor Gordon Schaeffer. She takes on themes of faith in her collections of autobiographical essays, the most recent of which are Help. Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers and Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope and Repair. Her newest book, Small Victories: Spotting Improbable Moments of Grace, will be available at the reception in Gresham Hall following the service at Grace.
