RESTING IN THE HEART
For six weeks, at the Night Ministry Tuesday Gathering, we will be practicing two simple meditation methods. Easy instruction will be given. These practices help us learn our powerful and natural ability to direct our attention to the experience of the divine love and peace always present within and around us. The practices can feel calming and invigorating. They can also affect our lives because we gain the powerful skill to choose where to rest our attention, instead of having our focus continuously grabbed by one thought, worry, or distraction after another.
Click these links for more information on the two practices we will be doing.
Centering Prayer
Centering Prayer is a simple form of Christian meditation in which we become available to divine love and presence by using a sacred word of our choosing. Though Christian in origin, this practice can easily be used by those of any faith tradition or no tradition.
Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina, which means “divine reading,” is an ancient practice of entering scripture in a deep way. In this practice, we learn to use our heart and imagination to engage in a “conversation” with the Holy.
